French Paris Saint Germain of Ligue 1 as lined up Emirates as a sponsor for the next three years, starting with this season.
The Dubai-based international airline first supported the club when it signed a three-year Official Partnership deal in August 2005.
Emirates has now signed on as the Official Club sponsor. Paris Saint Germain players will wear the Fly Emirates logo on their playing shirts starting with the club’s first game of the season this August.
The multi-million EUR, three-year deal announced in Paris will allow Emirates tgo brand in a highly visible way at the club’s Parc des Princes stadium.
The partnership will also provide Emirates with premier hospitality facilities at the club’s ground.
Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Group, and club president Alain Cayzac, made the announcement at a news conference held at the Parc des Princes.
“This sponsorship underlines Emirates’ commitment to our customers in France and follows on from the recent increase of our services to Paris to double daily, as well as the opening of our own customer lounge at Paris's Charles De Gaulle Airport,” said Shaikh Ahmad.
“Emirates is one of the largest sporting sponsors in the world and we are committed to football as can be seen through our partnership with FIFA which runs from the 2006 FIFA World Cup, to the 2014 World Cup, our sponsorship of Arsenal and the brand new Emirates Stadium, as well as other footballing sponsorships around the world. We feel that strengthening and extending our sponsorship of Paris Saint Germain is a perfect addition to our existing portfolio and we are proud to be associated with this great club.”
The club has been a part of French football’s long history, and it is one of the only French clubs to have never been relegated from the Championnat de France Ligue 1 Orange, the country's top professional soccer league.
“We welcome Emirates as PSG's new main sponsor and are proud to join their portfolio of top global soccer properties including Arsenal FC and Hamburg SV in Germany,” Cavzac said.
The club’s past and present players include football icons such as Rai, Djorkaeff and Ronaldinho, and the club enjoys a strong fan base not just in France but also in Europe.
