UEFA announced that BenQ, after completing UEFA's Global Event Sponsor Programme, is the last of the ten Global Sponsors for UEFA EURO 2008.

The other sponsors are Adidas, Continental, Castrol, and the six UEFA EUROTOP Partners, Carlsberg, Coca-Cola, JVC, Hyundai-Kia, MasterCard and McDonald's.

BenQ's category for global marketing and sponsorship rights includes mobile phones and digital still cameras.

"I am delighted to welcome BenQ back to our family of sponsors as a follow-up to its sponsorship in 2004 and I look forward to our successful partnership," said Michel Platini, UEFA president.

"UEFA EURO 2008 promises to be a spectacular sporting event enjoyed by millions all over the world."

"The sponsorship supports BenQ's commitment to Europe and ongoing efforts to make BenQ a household name in the region," said Mr. K.Y. Lee, chairman of BenQ Corp.

"The UEFA European Championship is one of the most prestigious and recognisable sporting brands in the world. It has a heritage and legacy with football fans of all ages for the quality of the football and the enjoyment the tournament brings to fans around the world.

"This reflects BenQ's mission to enhance customer enjoyment through quality consumer-oriented solutions designed especially for the networked digital lifestyle."

UEFA will now focus on the National Supporter programme packages for Austria and Switzerland.

UBS and Swisscom in Switzerland and Telekom Austria and Österreichische Post AG in Austria enrolled as National Supporters. The remaining two positions in each country will be announced soon.
