Signal Iduna renew Dortmund naming rights contract

The SIGNAL IDUNA Group has signed an early five-year extension to its contract with German Borussia Dortmund. Germany's biggest football stadium will be known as the 'SIGNAL IDUNA PARK' at least through the year 2016.

"BVB and the SIGNAL IDUNA Group share a longstanding tradition. That is why, years ago, we decided to partner with Borussia Dortmund. The partnership has been so successful that we will continue our engagement in the long term, thereby supporting BVB in realising its sport activities," said SIGNAL IDUNA CEO Reinhold Schulte.

The SIGNAL IDUNA Group aims to further increase its awareness, in order to boost its sales successes and provide new impetus for growth.

As well as the stadium naming rights, the contract covers an extensive package of additional advertising services.

Hans-Joachim Watzke, Chairman of BVB's management, sees the early contract extension as evidence for the "optimal, trustful cooperation between SIGNAL IDUNA and Borussia Dortmund." "In SIGNAL IDUNA, we have won a supremely reputable and rapidly growing company as a partner and we are pleased that we are able to turn this into such a long-lived partnership," so Watzke.

Stefan Heitfeld, manager of the SPORTFIVE / Borussia Dortmund team, commented: "For us it is important to have such a strong partner by our side well beyond the year 2011. The early extension is an indication of our successful cooperation and the effectiveness of naming Germany's biggest stadium the SIGNAL IDUNA Park."
