Domino’s Pizza posted a 27 percent rise in profits last year and is hoping for another surge during this summer’s World Cup. Domino’s, Britain’s largest pizza delivery company, attributed the rise in profits from GBP 8.9 million to GBP 11.2 million to heavier Internet usage, with customers now able to place their orders on the web.
Finance director Lee Ginsberg said six promotions would be launched this year, including one that will coincide with this summer’s tournament. “We're looking for like-for-like sales growth of between 6 and 7 percent over the year. Six weeks doesn't make a year but it's been a phenomenal start,” he told AFX. Market researcher Mintel estimates time-strapped Britons last year spent GBP 578 million having food delivered to their homes. It estimates the market will nearly double in size over the next 10 years.
