Sunderland signed mobile deal with Orange

The Championship club has become the first in its competition to sign a deal with the mobile telecommunication company as Official Mobile Communications Partners. As part of the three-year partnership club fans will be able to access all the latest news, views, interviews, images and video clips on the move. The Orange World mobile portal, including: Match highlights on video and post match player interviews, Pre and post match analysis including match images, Live match commentary, interactive text messaging and voting, Interviews with players and the manager, Man of the Match text voting, Downloads of club images, Up to date availability alerts on match tickets, and travel arrangements. Julian Diment, Head of Brand and Commercial Partnerships, Orange UK said: “Orange wanted to show their support and presence within the Championship and Sunderland were a perfect fit with their unrivalled and passionate supporter base. The new sponsorship allows Sunderland fans to experience much greater, faster information about their Club and the team through their mobile phone. With over one million registered football fans that already use the compelling sports services on Orange this partnership is guaranteed to change the way people experience football.” Lesley Callaghan, Marketing and Communications Director, Sunderland AFC “We are delighted to have formed this partnership with Orange, a global company at the forefront of telecommunications technology. Sunderland fans are renowned for their loyalty and passion and this link-up will provide an unrivalled service for our supporters, allowing them to access Club news and information quickly and easily.” In addition, Orange have agreed a comprehensive marketing programmed to communicate the proposition to the fans which will include programmed advertising, perimeter boards, leafleting, club mailings and on-line banner ads on the club website. The partnership is one of a series of similar deals being negotiated with a number of the country's top football clubs and supports Orange's strategy of building brand partnerships that focus on delivering new and exciting content and services to customers via the Orange World portal. Orange is committed to changing the way football fans experience the beautiful game by delivering instant, personalized information to their phones.
