Swansea City White Rock stadium to attract annual naming sponsorship for over £ 1m

Swansea City and County Council has dropped its working White Rock Stadium title to ensure the tag disappears from the collective memory so a big name sponsor can lend its name and financial muscle to the new £ 27m facility. The arena planed to house League Two club and Rugby club Ospreys from next season. Peter Sloane, a Professor of economics at the University of Wales believes the new stadium potential to attract naming sponsorship revenue in excess of £1m per year. Sloane believes any such deal could prove lucrative due to its dual-purpose football and rugby use, what means a prospective sponsor will be reaching two separate markets and the stadium will be used more televised more and mentioned more often. Sloane added that he expected a retailer to become the eventual sponsor, possibly one of the supermarkets such as Tesco or Sainsburys because of the huge competition in that sector. The game of finding a sponsorship deal like Bolton Wanderers landed with sports manufacturers Reebok has just begun. Bolton fans now watch their heroes at the Reebok Stadium while Leicester City players strut their stuff at the Walkers (Crisps) Stadium in deals worth millions of pounds a year to the clubs.
