Although David Beckham hasn't worn a jersey for the MLS LA Galaxy – and won't for another six months – his shirt is selling in the United States.
The No. 23 jersey already is available in various Los Angeles-area shops.
Beckham's first match in the United States will be in July, and shirt sales are expected to significantly rise before then, especially with the sizeable Hispanic sector of the population.
Beckham will earn 40-to-50 percent of Galaxy shirt sales, and an undisclosed share of ticket revenues. He will also receive USD 50 million in salary payments for the five years of his contract. The much-quoted USD 250 million figure represents potential earning power with side deals taken into account.
