Real Madrid is champion in brand value

Spanish Real Madrid has been a champion 30 times, and with a brand value of EUR 1.1 billion, the club is ranked the highest in commercial worth compared to all other European football clubs, according to BBDO Consulting.
BBDO, a division of Omnicom Inc., ranked 25 European clubs and reported that Spanish rival Barcelona placed second at a value of EUR 948 million, with English Premier League champion Manchester United in third place, valued at EUR 922 million.
Real Madrid, which won a record nine European championships, increased its brand image by sponsorships and worldwide touring. The club has toured Asia, South America and the U.S., and according to BBDO, the club's three-year shirt sponsorship with online gambling company, Bwin Interactive Entertainment AG, is worth more than EUR 60 million.
Real Madrid also has the most income, with sales of EUR 351 million for the year ending June 30.
In June, David Beckham left the Real Madrid to play for Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy. The club then obtained Dutch midfielders Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder.
The club's roster also includes FIFA world player of the year, Fabio Cannavaro, Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, Spain forward Raul and Brazilian playmaker Robinho.
A BBDO consultant said it assists companies that are interested in advertising to determine the marketing ability of a club by using its analysis to rate brand popularity, image, and the sources of its business income.
