Brazilian tickets for the World Cup have been deposited in a bank vault in Cologne, awaiting the arrival of the owners.
A total of 12,000 tickets were put in the vault for Brazilian fans that booked the World Cup through a tour operator in their country, and will be distributed to the fans when they arrive for the tournament, which begins 9 June. The tickets were transported via armoured car to the Sparkasse savings bank in Cologne.
Defending champions Brazil expect to have more than 5,000 fans based near them in their campaign to win a sixth title. Even tickets to Brazil’s training sessions were in demand, with more than 45,000 tickets to watch the team train in Switzerland selling out within hours.
