TalkSport has acquired the commentary radio rights for the Champions League matches of Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea. The contract covers UEFA Champions League fixtures for all three clubs on a national basis broadcast by AM as well as Premiership home games by Chelsea and Arsenal for London-only transmission. The national rights to the Premiership matches of all clubs broadcast by FM on Radio 5 Live are held by the BBC. The Wireless Group was acquired by Ulster Television (UTV) in May for £98.2m after a failed management buyout led by Kelvin MacKenzie. Winning the rights to Liverpool is a coup for the new owners since it is a deal that would have been politically impossible during the regime of former Sun editor McKenzie due to the bad feeling remaining in the City about his comments about Liverpool fans at the time of the Hillsborough disaster.
