Philips is claiming a World Cup victory that differs from Italy's title.
According to the company, a record 10 million fans watched the matches on the world's largest Philips TV with Ambilight technology. AmbiLight projects light from behind the four sides of the TV to match whatever is happening on the screen, creating a wider peripheral image and Taking the viewer into the action.
The biggest of Philips' 12 screens – one for each of the host cities – was located at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, measuring 77 metres square. Eighteen million fans watched the matches on 34 specially erected Philips screens in 15 locations, with the biggest draws being more than one million people for the Germany vs. Italy semifinal in Berlin and the France-Italy final.
