Borussia Dortmund renews SPORTFIVE's pact

German Borussia Dortmund and SPORTFIVE have signed an early renewal of their marketing cooperation, until the year 2020. The Bundesliga football club and its sports rights agent have had a very successful comprehensive-marketing partnership since 1999. A team of eleven led by Stefan Heitfeld handles all marketing matters for the historic North Rhine-Westphalian team including sponsor recruitment and relations, the development of new sponsorship concepts, hospitality marketing at the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK, and decentralised TV rights.

Thomas Tress (Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund), said: "We are very pleased at this continuation of the longstanding, trusted and successful marketing alliance between Borussia Dortmund and SPORTFIVE."

Hans-Joachim Watzke (Chairman of Borussia Dortmund), said: "A good three years after our near-insolvency, the Group's projected debt at 30 June 2008 will be just €69.1 million in liabilities from financing the stadium. Taking into account the amount paid back during the present fiscal year, we would be reducing financial liability at the Group level alone by €59.8 million this year. In the operations sector, Borussia Dortmund would be completely free of debt, putting it in a splendid financial position for the years ahead."

"As ever, Borussia Dortmund is a leading brand in German football and a vital part of our portfolio. This historic club has the second-largest average attendance of any club in Europe - and that is just one sign of the club's immense strength," says SPORTFIVE CEO Richard Worth. "We are delighted about this early extension of the contract with our longstanding partner BVB and will continue to attract numerous new national and international sponsors for the club in the years ahead."
