A survey invited by the Israeli Football Association reveled that 60% of the fans who attend the Premier League matches are supporters of one of the big four clubs: Maccabi Haifa, Maccabi Tel-Aviv, Hapoel Tel-Aviv, and Beitar Jerusalem. However, the Israeli top-tier saw 17% drop in fans attendance, and in the first half of the 2004/05 season only 205,000 tickets were sold by all the 12 clubs. 1,200 fans which were interviewed by 120 questions reveled that in contrary to general opinion, gate fees and TV broadcasts do not keep them from attending a match. It is the level of professional performance and low standard of facilities which has been marked as two of the main reasons for not attending matches. 64% of the fans also believe that the Israeli football player is unprofessional; however 71% expressed optimism that Israeli football is to improve in the upcoming years.
