An agreement between UEFA and INTERSPORT was completed making the company the UEFA EURO 2008 Official Sports Shop for Licensed Products.

The deal involves 20 European countries, such as France and Germany, and also includes host countries Austria and Switzerland. INTERSPORT Austria and Switzerland will also sell licensed products at the eight UEFA EURO 2008 stadiums.

"As the first official retailer for licensed products, INTERSPORT will offer products in 800 stores across Europe and each store will have a dedicated area for selling the range of licensed products," reported UEFA. "The first product range will be available in the eight host cities from June 2007 onwards and in some 100 stores across hosts Austria and Switzerland later in 2007."

"We are delighted to welcome the INTERSPORT Group into the football family as Official Sports Shop for UEFA EURO 2008 Licensed Products," said Philippe Margraff, Chief Operating Officer of UEFA Marketing and Media Management.

"The co-operation with UEFA and EURO 2008 as Official Sports Shop for Licensed Products is another milestone in INTERSPORT's strategy to enhance its core competence in team sport and specifically football," said Franz Julen, INTERSPORT International CEO.

"UEFA's commitment, shown through the selection of the INTERSPORT Group as its partner in the sports retail industry, strengthens our leading position as the biggest football retailer and underlines and confirms our passion in the world's most famous and popular sport."

"We are delighted to have INTERSPORT on board as part of the licensing and merchandising programme for UEFA EURO 2008," said Bruno Schwobthaler, Warner Brothers Consumer Products Vice President of sales and business development.

"It is a very strong signal that the retail community is acknowledging the value of the Official Licensed Product programme and an important first step in the successful roll-out of the licensing programme across Europe."
