Price cut leads to higher demand at Blackburn

Cutting ticket prices has paid off for English Blackburn.

Season-ticket sales are up nearly 10 percent for the club after Blackburn announced it would trim the average cost of adult season tickets by 25 percent. The sales increase is an improvement over the past two seasons.

Blackburn used the GBP 1 million from the new TV deal to cut prices. The cheapest season ticket is GBP 249, the lowest in the Premier League. The most expensive is GBP 399. Junior season tickets cost GBP 99.

"We made a bold decision to cut the cost of watching football at Ewood Park after recognising the issue of cost was one of the reasons why some fans were staying away," said Simon Williams, head of commercial and marketing at Blackburn, "and we have been very encouraged by the sales of season tickets so far with our first home game still a few weeks away."
