AC Milan expects Ronaldo to boost marketing

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
After buying legendary Brazilian striker Ronaldo from Spanish Real Madrid, Italian AC Milan will use the player's marketing potential to the fullest extent.

Kaka, Andrea Pirlo and Paolo Maldini are big name players in the Serie A club in recent seasons, but Ronaldo has greater commercial appeal and Milan hopes to profit as much as possible financially from it.

"Ronaldo already has a very strong worldwide image - a stronger one than the other Milan players," said Jose Carlos Brunoro, a respected Brazilian marketing expert.

"That's why I believe he should be used by Milan to spread their global appeal. No doubt Milan will make various incursions in this regard."

Milan will also profit from the sale of Ronaldo's famous No. 99 shirt, at a retail cost of EUR 80 each.

Unlike when he was at Real Madrid, where the 'galactico' policy meant that stars had to share their profits with the Spanish Primera Division club, Ronaldo can keep any profit from his sponsor deals with companies such as Nike, Ambev, Audi and Siemens, in addition to his annual salary of EUR 5 million.
