FIFA technology partner monitored for fraud

Satyam, leading Indian software company, is being examined by FIFA due to recently exposed fraud. The company is the technology partner with FIFA for the 2010 and 2014 World Cup events.

The Indo-Asian News Service reports a that FIFA is monitoring the USD 1.4 billion fraud connected to Satyam chairman and co-founder B Ramalinga Raju. Raju resigned from the company following a confession to years of this criminal activity. FIFA will remain informed about any developments in the case and are examining the exent of the corruption.

Satyam provides IT event management for FIFA, which includes crucial functions such as ticketing, FIFA's website, live feeds, transport, and volunteer management systems. More than 50,000 volunteers that aid World Cup events are coordinated using their system.

Daily operations for the company will continue, but former chairman Raju faces prosecution under Indian law, leading to up to seven years of incarceration.
