Football Federation takes steps in the illegal betting and match-fixing scandal

After Naples-based anti-mafia police opened an investigation in May into illegal betting and match-fixing in the Italian leagues, The Italian Football Federation has subpoenaed 33 people and 12 clubs to face the federation sporting tribunal. If found guilty, clubs could be fined, have points deducted or be relegated. Players, coaches and club executives could be fines or face the prospect of being banned from involvement in professional football.
