FIFA Vice President drops legal action

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
FIFA vice president Jack Warner is expected to drop his planned legal action against the authors of a report and some FIFA officials.

The Ernst and Young report alleged that Warner and his son had been involved in World Cup ticketing scams.

As revealed by The Daily Telegraph, Warner hit back with a report by New York attorney John Collins, who sits on FIFA's legal committee. Collins' report accused Ernst and Young of containing "incomplete information" and drawing "erroneous" conclusions.

Warner wanted to use the Collins report to sue but now it is understood he will let FIFA's disciplinary committee decide the matter.

Warner originally persuaded FIFA president Sepp Blatter to appoint Urs Linsi as general secretary in 2002. But now the fight between Warner and Linsi is part of a developing civil war between Linsi and other FIFA officials, including other members of the executive.
