Portugal will have a trial for a club official accused of bribing a referees before a Premier League match.

Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa will stand trial for the alleged infraction before a 2004 match. Referee Augusto Duarte, on the pitch for the Beira Mar-Porto match, also will stand trial, on corruption charges.

The match was a scoreless draw.

Pinto da Costa's lawyer declined to comment while Duarte was not immediately available to comment. Lusa news agency reported Duarte received EUR 2,500 from Pinto da Costa before the match.

The trials follow the "Golden Whistle" investigation, which began in 2003. The investigation has implicated several referees and directors.
