An Oslo court gave a former Norwegian club director a one-year suspended sentence for forgery.
Morgan Andersen, formerly of Norwegian Lyn, was convicted of forging contracts in 2005 of Nigerian midfielder john Obi Mikel. The court also ruled that Mikel was entitled to a portion of the player transfer fee due to the forged contract.
Current Lyn director Erik Langerud felt the verdict would not make the club ante up millions of owed dollars in transfer fees.
Mikel was an amateur player for the club when, at age 18, he was presented with a professional contract. He claimed not to sign. Instead, it is believed amateur documents with his signature were cut out and used for the forgery.
