Reggina will remain in Serie A, but will start the season with a 15-point deduction for attempted match-fixing according to the ruling of Italy's football tribunal.
Football federation prosecutor Stefano Palazzi asked that Reggina be relegated to Serie B and docked 15 points.
Serie B club Arezzo will be docked nine points at the start the season. Palazzi had asked for relegation for that club, as well.
Reggina fought to avoid relegation in the past two seasons, but were charged following wiretap conversations involving club president Lillo Foti.
Reggina was the latest in a series of clubs that have faced the tribunal over match-fixing concerns. Juventus was stripped of its past two titles, relegated to Serie B and docked 17 points at the start of the season for seeking an unfair advantage in the appointment of referees. AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina were all allowed to remain in Serie A but with points penalties.
The clubs have lodged a second round of appeals after reduction during the first appeal. The Italian Olympic Committee's conciliation court will meet on Friday to rule on Juventus' second appeal.
