Foe family sue football federation

The family of footballer Marc-Vivien Foe, who died while playing football in Lyon, is taking legal proceedings against the French football federation for breach of security regulations. The case related to the lack of emergency equipment and personnel in and around the Gerland stadium. "Everyone was able to see that live on television," the lawyers said.  "There were only sports doctors, physiotherapists, but no doctor and no equipment capable of dealing with such a serious incident." Foe died aged 28 on June 26 last year of heart-related problems, an autopsy showed, after collapsing while playing for Cameroon against Colombia in the semi-final of the Confederations Cup. He collapsed in the 72nd minute of the match and died 45 minutes later in the medical centre of the stadium without regaining consciousness
