Macedonian secretary disgraced in scandal

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Lazar Mitrovski, the Macedonian Football Federation General Secretary, used a false diploma from a university in Sarajevo to obtain his position. Mitrovski was arrested on charges of being involved in under handed dealings in the league.

The situation has distressed FIFA and has lead to the suspension of Macedonia from all football activities.

The Macedonian Federation has not issued a statement about the situation.

If President Hari and Mitrovski are let go because of the scandal involving the Secretary and the false diploma, Macedonia's coach Srecko Katanec said he would also leave.

"When I first heard of the news, I was not worried because I believed it to be a misunderstanding of "Makedonsi Sport" because they have always been against the current leadership," said Katanec.

"If the President and the Secretary will be changed then I will go as well because these are the people that have brought me here and whoever takes their place will want to bring their own guy in and I cannot work under such conditions.

"I do not mean for this to be seen as a rebellion, I just believe that if the people I made a deal with are no longer here than I shouldn't either."
