League agrees to Bosman ruling

Mid-fielder Anton Bobe, who left Russian Krylya Sovetov to go to Russian FK Moscow without any compensation, is one of the first players to make use of a new regulation that entitles a player to a free transfer when their contract ends.

The Russian players union reached the agreement with the clubs in February 2006 but the Bosman ruling states that payments can still be requested for players up to and including 23 years of age, even at the end of a contract.

The clubs requested that it be allowed to abide by the old regulations one last time. It wanted to ask for a transfer fee, even at the end of the player's contract, during the summer period,

'We can still not be completely satisfied, but this is a tremendous step forward," said Nikolai Grammatikov from the Russian players union. "However, there is still enough to fight for."

One change Grammatikov wants to achieve in the future is the representation of the players in the national Dispute Resolution Chamber.

"We will soon draw up an agenda with the new head of the Russian League, Mikhail Vorontsov, who is also chairman of FC Saturn," said Grammatikov.
