Council to take legal action against Barry Town

The League One club is to face legal action by Vale of Glamorgan Council after council leaders agreed to pursue the club for back rent on its Jenner Park stadium. The council claims the club owes £30,000 in rent for use of the stadium and has begun advertising for a new primary user of the site. According to media reports, council leaders met in a secret session and agreed to "take action as is necessary to recover the outstanding money owed by the club." The club believes the council is being unreasonable in its demands, claiming it is being asked to pay £42,000 a year for use of the Jenner Park pitch and the stands – Barry actually own the dressing rooms at the stadium. Previous agreements with the council have led the club to play between £7,000 and £16,000 per annum, a marked difference to the council’s recent valuation.
