The transfer of Nigerian midfielder, John Obi Mikel, to English Chelsea is being investigated by Norwegian police on suspicion of contract forgery.
In June 2006, Mikel, 19, played for Norway's Lyn Oslo and was going to sign with English Manchester United, but English Chelsea made a GBP 12 million deal with Manchester United for Mikel to play for Chelsea.
"The case is about document forgery and that is serious," said Paal Hernaes, Oslo police attorney.
"Mikel is just a witness in the case," Hernaes said.
Police questioned Mikel in London last week and is expected to complete the investigation by early April.
