The English Football League is probing League One Oldham chairman Simon Blitz for a GBP 500,000 personal loan made to Championship League Queens Park Rangers.
The loan, registered with Companies House on April 18, has been confirmed by Blitz. It is possible to be secured against the potential sale of Rangers' star player Lee Cook.
QPR chairman Gianni Paladini did not want to comment.
"An issue, relating to Oldham Athletic and Queens Park Rangers, was brought to our attention," a Football League spokesman said. "This is now being investigated."
The Football Association also would not provide comment.
"We are interested in finding out more about this, and we will be trying to do so [Sunday]," QPR Supporters Trust Coordinator Tracy Stent said.
Blitz said the loan would have no negative impact on Oldham's finances, calling it a "business deal on a personal level."
