Turkish Besiktas will have its UEFA Championship League revenues cut in a ruling from FIFA that favours a case filed by former coach Vicente Del Bosque.
It is a blow to Besiktas which has been seeking Champions League revenue of EUR 5.4 million. FIFA initially blocked EUR 3 million.
The case was referred to the FIFA Discipline Board when the club failed to comply with its legal obligations following the termination of Del Bosque's contract during the 2004-2005 season.
Kısmet Erkiner of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had warned the club it would face harsh sanctions if it failed to pay Del Bosque the EUR 6.7 million figure. That amount grew to EUR 8.5 million because it was not paid on time.
If Besiktas now does not comply with the ruling, it might lose Super League points.
