Transfer controversy forces Romanian Dinamo boss to quit

A decision to transfer two players without his permission has led to the resignation of club president, Ioan Becali. Last month, defender George Galamaz and midfielder Stefan Grigorie were sold to Polish club Wisla Krakow.

"I don't agree with this move which is contrary to Dinamo's interests," he said. "My decison to quit is final and it will be effective in a few days," Becali told Realitatea TV in a talk show. Becali said the sale of the players weakens the club, which currently leads Romania's top division ahead of rivals Steau Bucharest. The club is hoping to secure a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League with a league title.

Becali spent years as an influential players agent before being stripped of his agent license last month by the Romanian Soccer Federation over Florin Bratu's illegal 2003 transfer to Galatasaray from Rapid Bucharest.
