The Bundesliga club revealed that former General Manager Reiner Calmund, has left the club in summer of 2004 over a dubious EUR 580,000 payment to an agent.
Calmund, who served the club for 21 months, has emerged that his exit was due to an unexplained financial transaction with agent Volker Graul. Calmund and another club employee had made out three payments of EUR 50,000, EUR 150,000 and EUR 380,000 for Graul's services in June 2003, however just ten months later in April 2004 Graul invoiced the club again for working on the transfers of two players. Shortly afterwards Bayer severed all ties with Graul and Calmund lost his position as general manager. According to magazine Spiegel a Bielefeld court is now taking action against several unnamed parties for suspicion of fraud.
