Calls for player’s salary caps are lead by Premier club Aberdeen president, Stewart Milne. Milne believes that most of the financial difficulties experienced by Premier League clubs are sourced with players’ salaries, which must be based more on performance related schemes. On the other hand, the Scottish Professional Footballers Union assistant secretary Fraser Wishart is in the opinion that although steps needed to be taken to improve clubs finance, salaries ceilings are not the right way of doing it. “Wage cap would be unworkable and may also be seen as illegal under restraint of individual’s right to trade” said wishart to media.
