The Championship club refuses to pay an outstanding £200,000 bill owed to the Manchester Police claiming that the club is being overcharged. Chairman Dave Whelan is claiming that the club is being charged with much higher amounts than other nearby clubs as Burnley and Preston North End, which are policed by Lancashire Police. “For our game against Nottingham Forest, the bill was £19,878, while Burnley paid £2,179 and Preston £2,584 against the same team,” Whelan commented to media, “It is absolutely scandalous and the evidence is that we are being treated unfairly,” he added.
