The Premier League club has reported 73% increase in retained profit from last year’s £3.34m to £5.64m for the year ended 31 August 2004. Turnover increased from £36.48m to £45.34m primarily due to increased ticket sales (£21.5m) and media income (£16.7m), while operating costs increased from £25.75m by 20% to £30.89m due to increased player wage, with £12m spent only on eight players. Club chief executive Karren Brady has stated that the board is in talks with Birmingham City Council about the possibility of a new 50,000 seats stadium.
