The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) chief executive Gordon Taylor has backed the high wages paid to top players and explained that high wages are paid since clubs who enjoy healthy income streams have to pay these amounts of money in order to attract the world’s best players. “Every laborer is worth his hire and it is not as if the player is putting the club's arm up its back. It is up to clubs to balance budgets and it is only fair that players should share in the income the game is getting,” Taylor commented to media.
