Tax investigation reveled severe financial irregularities in clubs

The investigation by the Institute for Social Security took place between March and June last year but the results have only just been made public. The investigation, which did not take into account Superliga clubs, uncovered irregularities in 97 out of 106 clubs in the Segunda, Segunda B and Tercera divisions. The most noteworthy irregularity was reporting players’ earnings far less than they actually are.
