Borussia Dortmund reported the country's biggest debt and yearly loss

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The 1.Bundesliga club has reported overall debt of €118.8m for the 2003-04 seasons, just two years after the club reported its second-largest season profit of €3.3m. Last season’s operating loss was recorded €67.7m. The losses can be attributed to financial planning based on expected income from UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup and the German Cup. The introduced a two-year plan aimed at restructuring the club’s assets and finances which includes cutting player costs, a fresh stock market offering aimed at raising €24.4m and re-purchasing a majority share of the 80,000-capacity Westfalenstadion, which had been a lucrative source of income.
