Rafael Benitez, the Premier League club Liverpool manager, has hit out at the transfer policy of his former employer Spanish Valencia, claiming that in his charge the board was never willing to spend so heavily. "The board told me there wasn't any money left to make big signings and now they are investing €30m," he said. Valencia has signed 4 Italians (Di Vaio, Corradi, Moretti, and Fiore) at huge costs and Benitez is at a loss to understand where all the funds have come from.
