Spanish Barcelona is in fine financial health, with turnover reported EUR 290.1 million for the 2006/07 season.
The club grew by EUR 31 million in income for a net profit of EUR 6.8 million. Players' wages took 51 percent of the club's total income, which is better than the industry goal of 55 percent, and bank debt was reduced by EUR 28.7 million from 68.5 million to 39.8 million.
Revenues include EUR 16.1 million from season ticket holders and EUR 23 million from ticket sales, EUR 80.3 million from the commercial rights of the Nou Camp stadium, EUR 106.7 million from TV contracts, and EUR 85.8 million from marketing income.
Expenses for the club's first team reported EUR 97.1 million in fixed payments, EUR 20 million in variable payments and EUR 148.3 million in salaries.
Even though Barcelona did not take a championship, the club is in outstanding shape, with a projected budget next season of EUR 315 million.
"The economic health of the club is stable whether we win or lose," said Barcelona vice-president Ferran Soriano. "Not every company or club can say the same."
Soriano attributed the growth to better use of the club's installations, increased sponsorship, profitable friendlies and tours, and advertising income from the club's TV station, as well as the sale of Barca TV international.
