Although turnover has increased 22.9% to £ 55.86m, the club still reported a pre-tax loss of £10.65m for the year ended May 31 2004, continuing last year loss of £11.55m. Revenue streams showed relatively modest increases, although all areas improved. Operating Expenses (excluding player trades) increased 7.4% to £48.59m reflecting a small increase in wages and salaries to £33.77m, although number of first team players was released from the club. In the chairman’s statement, Doug Ellis explained that the club is looking to develop its brand both at home and overseas, where initiatives in the USA and the Indian sub-continent are currently in the planning stage.
