ECA objects restrictions on clubs under debt

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the acting chairman of the European Club Association (ECA) does not see a need to impose restrictions on English Premier League clubs.

UEFA president Michel Platini said last month that there is a need for restrictions on Premiere League clubs to stop them from running up big debts.

English clubs Manchester United and Chelsea are of particular concern.

"It is not against the law what they [English clubs] are doing," Rummenigge told the Associated Press. "We have to respect them for the job done in the past 10-15 years."I don't see the necessity to dramatically change our business."

The ECA, which was established in January, meets for the first time next month, after a season when English clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea were top of Europe's football wealth table and dominated the Champions League.

Rummenigge expressed that the ECA has all clubs in mind, not just the top revenue earners. He hopes that the association will put an end to disputes inside of the football community.
