The League Two club, taken over last May by finance company the Sterling Consortium and insolvency practitioners Wilson Field, with a deal that saw the club emerge from five months of administration, left many of its creditors unhappy after they were offered less than 1% for the amounts owed. Shannon, whose company was owed £19,000, is one of those who received the reduced pay-out, is to approach his MP to ask for an investigation into links between the club’s new owners. On the back of Shannon’s complaints authorities are looking into the administrators conduct. Wilson Field has responded to Shannon’s campaign by sending him a letter, rejecting his claims that the administrators did not secure the best possible deal for creditors. In addition, the firm has also denied that David Elliot, although a director of HW Sterling plc – the company which owns the club’s stadium, had any direct involvement in the club’s dealings when it was in administration.
