Referees want pay increase

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The Norwegian referee's organisation is searching for a pay raise in May.

The referees feel the tempo and intensity of the game has reached the point where they need more time to prepare and recover. Referees in the top Norwegian league make EUR 925 a match. They are seeking EUR 1,230 a contest.

"This situations means that the referees, among other things, have to spend more time away from their day-to-day jobs, which means a financial loss for them," organisation head Geir Age Holen told NRK. "We have to improve the professionalism, the rules and the salary they are paid."
