IFK Goteborg hopes to be the top Scandinavian club

Swedish IFK Goteborg says businessman Ulf Ivarsson will head a club project to raise between EUR 1.6 - 2.6 million from investors to build the most successful club in Scandinavia.

The club can use any money that is raised and in return the investors will obtain a share of all the players on the first club squad. This includes Ragnar Sigurdsson, Mattias Bjärsmyr, Andres Vasques, Pontus Wernblom och Jakob Johansson.

If any of the players are sold, 10 percent of the sale money will go to the IFK Goteborg youth set-up with the remaining 90 percent split between the club and the investors.

"We are still looking at the details of this project. Stig Lundstrom [the IFK chairman] and I are of the same opinion and when everything is ready we will tell everyone," Ivarsson said.

"We want to do everything right and are looking at all the rules and the relationship between the team and the investors. IFK Goteborg have found a model I believe in. It is interesting in a commercial and sporting way.

"Together, with the work the club itself is putting in, I am hoping that this company can be the last piece of the jigsaw that secures the place IFK historically should be, i.e. one of the best clubs in Scandinavia with a possibility of playing in the Champions League."
