SFA record turnover offset by Tennent loss

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The news that the Scottish Football Association had posted record turnover of GBP 25.3 million was offset a bit by losing a quarter of that income due to a sponsorship concern.

The annual meeting confirmed the turnover figure, but also the concern that the Scottish Cup now will be without as sponsor after Tennent wrapped up its final season as backer.

The SFA could not find a sponsor for this year's event, and came up with the prize money on its own. Tennent's loss will become apparent in next year's accounting.

Aside from that the league had good news financially, but each item seemed to be dampened a bit with the sponsorship issue.

The SFA's turnover was up GBP 6.2 million from the previous year. But Tennent's contribution was GBP 6.3 million. The European Championship campaign by Scottish clubs also provided a strong boost. Hosting the 2007 UEFA Cup final also was a strong financial help.
