CLUBS COMBINE FOR RECORD BUDGET OF USD 35M

Russian newspaper Izvestia reported that the country’s Premiere League clubs boasted a combined budget of US 350 million. The newspaper reported that Dinamo Moscow’s operating budget of US 60 million was the highest for all clubs. Dinamo is owned by Alexei Fedorychev and his company Fedcominvest and also receives US 3 million annually from sponsor Xerox.

Champions and cup holders CSKA Moscow tied for the third-highest budget at US 30 million. CSKA has also announced a new sponsorship partnership with Vneshtorgbank that will bring in US 7 million annually.

Lokomotiv Moscow, sponsored by Moscow Railways, also boasts a budge of US 30 million.

CSKA and Spartak Moscow will be the country’s representatives in next season’s UEFA Champions League. Spartak has the second-highest budget at US 40 million, thanks in part to sponsors LUKOIL and investment vehicle Kapital.

Zenit Saint Petersburg also operates with a US 40 million budget, backed by natural gas monopoly Gazprom. The club faces Spanish Primera Liga club Seville FC in this month’s UEFA Cup.

FC Moscow can spend US 20 million thanks toRussia's top metals producer Norilsk Nikel, the same as Rubin Kazan, supported by the regional authorities and utility company Tatenergo. Other clubs’ budgets vary between US 5-15 million.
