The Football League (LFP) is facing serious financial difficulties in course of a EUR 25 million debt to private TV channel Antena 3. The matter has come about following a judicial sentence originating from a case in 1991 when Antena 3 were not allowed to participate in a bid with the rest of the channels involved in broadcasting league matches. Antena 3 demanded, and has been awarded compensation for damages by the Spanish Court already in 1995. TV Channel Tele 5 has also presented a compensation claim in the same background and is waiting for it to be resolved.
