Andersson’s retirement precipitate an insurance windfall for AIK
Sweden - 01 August, 2005
Superettan club and Swedish international striker Andreas Andersson’s decision to retire playing football immediately due to a knee ligament will precipitate a €1m pay out in insurance money. The club which signed the player from English Premier League club Newcastle United in 1999 for £1.4m has insured the player against injury. Andersson’s career reached an abrupt end in 2003 when he snapped against former club IFK Gothenburg. He has played since but never regained full fitness.
