Clubs pay off debts to avoid relegation

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Eight clubs under threat of relegation for failing to pay salary debts, two from the Primera Liga and six from the Segunda, with debts totaling €7m, settled their differences with players and can now open the new season. Association of Spanish footballers (AFE) president Gerardo González Movilla told Spanish press that the union has received 61 official complaints affecting various clubs - but these have been settled with the exception of Arteixo, who were relegated from Segunda B. The main teams under scrutiny were Racing Santander, Deportivo La Coruna, Cordoba, Lleida, Malaga B, Sporting Gijon, Tenerife and Terrassa.
