Zaragoza owner tackles debt concerns

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Real Zaragoza has accumulated debts of over EUR 50 million which president Eduardo Bandres admits he is concerned about.

Bandres has been in charge of the Primera Liga club for 100 days and has given his first assessment of the state of affairs which he says the debt is the biggest cause of concern. "It's a delicate situation. Results in recent seasons have accumulated important losses and have obliged us to go into debt to be able to face up to the challenges," Bandres said. "We need to control expenses and find new sources of income."

Bandres aims to do this to some extent through promotion and publicity campaigns. "Promotion and publicity is one way we can get the finances back on track, as well as improved exploitation on match days. We need to make Zaragoza attractive to firms, to create a group of firms whose services we can offer. We want people turning up hours before the game to soak up the atmosphere and spend money," Bandres said.
